I'm jealous -- I have yet to get a decent shot of one of these magnificent birds.
I would have raised the shadow areas on the bird a bit to bring out more feather detail, but these are very nice regardless.
I too am envious as I have seen the Pileated but yet to have any images to post. Nicely presented with a good hold on the whites and deep detail in the darks
The light on #1 really is great and you presented it well IMO

I always go back and forth with adding detail. Sometimes it starts to feel un-natural, since these are pretty dark birds.
