p.1 #1 · Ilford Pan F Plus 50

Hello. Getting back into film photography. I shot some Pan F about...oh... 40 something years ago and remember it looking quite nice and very much to my liking for fine grain and a lot of contrast.
I am wondering if anyone still shoots this film, what do you develop it in? Some examples would be most appreciated.

It's a nice film. Blue Moon Camera has a useful review here with sample photos: https://bluemooncameracodex.com/film-fridays/ffpanf

I have mostly developed it with Rodinal at 1:100 using the semi-stand approach (1 minute of gentle agitation to start, let it sit, three gentle agitations at the 30 minute mark, let it sit again and pour out the developer at 1 hour). I like how it looks; I've tried a couple of other developers as well and next time I'll try 510 Pyro. I've shot it in 35mm and 120.

Here are two examples developed in Rodinal, semi-stand:

Pan F+ is still my favorite b&w film, even though I don't shoot it as often as I used to. These are all 120 processed by my local lab, they told me they use D-76. I probably used a red filter on all of these except the bridge.

PanF rules and Rodinal does a fine job with it.

I only stopped shooting it because Acros has better reciprocity characteristics.

There are so many good black and white film stocks! I haven't shot Pan F in a few years, but I agree with what other have said...it works really well with Rodinal.

It's a good one, slow but very low grain and excellent detail. If you like it, I'd also recommend checking out Adox Scala 50 or HR 50, or Aviphot 80.

That is Abiqua falls, near Silverton Oregon.
