The normal seasonal high temperature of 40f felt great after the long cold spell as I walked around Oakland Lake here in New York City. While the weather was lovely, I was not finding photos I wanted to take and when I completed a lap of the lake I paused and watched the ducks in the distance as I wondered if I should try another location. Suddenly this Cooper's hawk landed on a tree right in front of me. I took a few photos hand held and then started to set up my tripod so I could stay on it till it blasted off. That plan was foiled as it took off before I was ready. It flew to a nearby tree and this time I was on the tripod and captured the blastoff. It flew to some distant trees that I could not get close too due to snow on ice so I waited and after it hopped from tree to tree a few times. It blasted off flying past me before landing on a tree with the sun directly behind it. I moved yet it had take off heading out of the park.

That took some patience, glad you stuck with it and it paid off for you Morris. Nice sharp in-flight shot too, great panning, are you using a gimbal on your tripod or a ball head or?

Great photos Morris. The in-flight shots are really nice and sharp, and I love the catchlight in those as well.
Thank you Zach,
When I was selecting images from my bursts I chose ones that had the catch light
