p.1 #1 · Graphics card advice for a new editing laptop
I'm shopping for a new PC based laptop that will used for postprocessing photos and wondering if I should spend the extra for a higher end graphics card. I'll primarily be using Lightroom and Photoshop. Rarely will I edit any video and I'll not be using this laptop for any gaming, just work.
Is this good enough?
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 5050, 8GB GDDR7, 45W
or should I consider
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 5060, 8GB GDDR7, 45W
or even
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 5070, 8GB GDDR7, 55W
I'm also happy to accept advice on any particular PC laptop to consider. Obviously a high end "16 display is a must and 32-64gb ram. Budget is around $3000 USD with a Max of $3500.
I may make a separate post on this question...

5050 should be good enough (for now). With all the AI capabilities coming up, whether you like it or not, the software you intend to use will evolve and at some point your 8GB of VRAM will no longer be sufficient.
Note that the projected shortage of RAM and now even OLED screens will keep prices high and availability low for the next couple of years at least. Plan for the future, with your typical machine upgrade cycle in mind.
I recently upgraded my system (moving from a ThinkPad workstation - i9, Pro NVIDIA with 6GB, 64GB RAM, UHD 16") to a desktop set up right before the costs went up. I got top-of-the-line specs (i9, 5090, 64GB RAM, multiple SSDs) because I intend to use this machine for the next 6-8 years.

Puget doesn't have any results for the 5050. There's not a huge difference between the 5060 and 5070 in the Lr tests. Not enough difference to worry over.

Those look like desktop results, not laptop (mobile) results. There is less difference between the higher laptop models since the power is more limited. Mobile 5070 would be my target, but I don't like the performance laptops. I prefer to have a lightweight laptoop with massive storage (16TB) and do the heavy lifting on the desktop with a nice display when back home.

Puget does have Ps test results for the laptop GPUs.

I usually suggest the 5070 for the mid-sized laptops. You really want one of the big gamer laptops to run the 5080 or 5090. I see there is also a mobile 5070Ti, most notable for having 12GB RAM and just a bit more power than the 5070. I have not searched for any laptops that use it though.

Thank you for your input.
I've been looking at everything out there and yeah, it's often slim pickings to get everything I want, and to make sure it's future proof for a while, not to mention available, with the shortages and supply chain delays. I'm leaning towards a RTX 5070 Ti at this point because of the 12GB

Yes, the 5070 Ti seem the way to go because of the 12GB. I did find a few suitable laptops with it.
