My thoughts too but that'd overlap their 35-150.. I hope its FF. Some rumors sites say it'll come out for Sony FE and Z mount... and we all know FE is FF, so lets hope
I suspect it's an FX lens. Will be nice to see what the performance looks like it when it arrives. It likely would make for a nice fast standard zoom for a Z5ii/Z6iii/ZR.
I know some folks really lament giving up 24-35mm (and I don't like giving up wider than 28), but I also really enjoy going a bit more narrow than 70mm.
Because we as people tend to desire visual imagery/example to go with something we read about, especially when talking about a product like when NR made an AI image of the 120-300 TC
I think the lens makes a lot more sense as an FX lens. If it was 35-100 f/2, then I could see the shorter zoom range being a reasonable concession to keep the size down, but if you are going to make a DX lens I would expect something like a 45-135 f/2.8 or maybe even a 35-150 f/2.8. The short zoom range and the relatively slow aperture of a 35-100 f/2.8 for DX would make a pretty boring offering in my view.

As usual the difference between 2.8 and 4 won’t make a lick of difference in the real world and the 24-120 stays the default choice.
Yep. I think you’re right on this one. Less range, and I highly doubt the IQ will be on par with 24-120 or their own 35-150
