I have been talking figure skating photos for numerous skate families the last few years. Last night, as 2 parents had boys playing hockey at our home rink, I showed up to capture them. Of course, they loved them, and with another game between these 2 teams next Wednesday, they are reaching out to other parents to see who wants photo's. How many players is it reasonable to be able to capture in a game. I had not problem with 2 on the same shift last night, but next Wednesday could be more of a challenge.

Do the parents have an expectation of a certain number of shots of their kid? Do you know the skill level of the kids (action shots of higher skilled kids will be easier to get)?
I’ve shot for whole teams before on behalf of the league (not for specific parents). Unless I am specifically targeting a limited number of players, the number of shots of any kid are going to vary widely depending on the kid’s skills, position, time in the game, etc. When shooting the whole team, I do always try to at least get shots of the lesser skills players even if it’s on the bench or just standing in the game.
As long as parents understand that you may not get every highlight play (could be out of focus, you were shooting a different part of the ice, etc) and know what to expect for a final product, I think you are limited by how well you can id the players and get multiple shots in addition to how much time you want to spend post processing.
In this case, I was only shooting for 2 parents and they are friends from out figure skating community. 2 weeks later, I had about 9 parents wanting photos and they all pitched in so I made a little money.
