I wasn’t sure what to expect after traveling the bumpy road and arriving at this Utah badlands overlook. As I walked around the rim looking down and scanning for compositions, I became inspired by all the wonderful textures, patterns and lines, along with the subtle cool and warm colors that were throughout much of the earth. I proceeded to use my Tamron 50-400mm zoom mounted to A7RV on tripod to hone in on sections that were especially aesthetically pleasing to me and I soon fell into one of those flow sessions where I lost all track of time and awareness of the outside world, and before I knew it it was near dark. In combination with the freedom in Lightroom to coax out the best of these marvelous lands, I got that rare feeling where it almost feels like painting. I hope you enjoy these views of a remarkable location!

Terrific set, Ross! Never made it this far on my last Utah trip, but on the list for the next one.
Thank you, Fred! I wasn’t set up to dry camp up there like some were doing, so it made for a long drive back at night to where I was staying, but worth it.
Stunning set Ross! Quite otherworldly. I'm so looking forward to my Utah adventures this fall, showing such awesome work from these fabulous locations is keeping me hungry!

Thank you Guy! I’m happy I can help stoke your fire to be there You are going to have an epic time, I’m sure of it.
Wonderful set Ross. That flow state is what I have sought all my life, first in skiing, then climbing, and now photography. A quiet beautiful place like this is the perfect location to play with light and composition. I'm heading down there in April, and was already psyched, but you just added fuel to the fire!
