After visiting this site 3x I have to give credit where it is due and say these are exemplary!
The light here can be either harsh or pleasing (as in your images)...there aren't any compromises in-between. You created some magic here, Ross!!
Thankful for your encouraging feedback, Al! The RAW files left me disappointed as they did not reflect what I was seeing and experiencing, but with time in Lightroom I was able to bring them to life.
Nicely seen and captured Ross! You can feel the textures in all of them. I really like how the sun is hitting the hills in #2 and the sense of depth in that one. Always fun to be out in these otherworldly landscapes.

Wonderful set Ross. That flow state is what I have sought all my life, first in skiing, then climbing, and now photography. A quiet beautiful place like this is the perfect location to play with light and composition. I'm heading down there in April, and was already psyched, but you just added fuel to the fire!
Thank you, Jim! That creative flow is a sweet place to be. I’m sure you will have an amazing trip in April.

Thank you, Scott! Yes it was a nice break from the woodlands photography I mostly did on that fall trip.
Very nice series Ross! Sure looks like a different planet. I visited this place a few month ago - still in the processing stage...
Your rendition is quite different from what I have seen before - I like it a lot. And I know what you mean regarding dull looking RAW images; You certainly made the pictures come to life - nice job!
#2 looks like the "elephant feet" you can see from Zabriskie point in Death Valley :-)

Thank you, Jacob, and cool you were there recently also! While shooting I could see the subtle color variations and all of the fantastic texture, patterns, and lines, but the RAW files severely lacked contrast and were overwhelmingly blue from the reflected blue sky. So in Lightroom I set about to correct, and interpret, in a similar way I do with dunes photography, letting my aesthetic taste guide me until the images were finally reflecting how I felt to be there. It’s such a huge blessing to have the tools of great development software to fully bring about one’s personal vision.
Ross, what incredible images you’ve captured of Moonscape! I’ve seen many photographs from this location, but none come close to what you’ve presented on FM. Your composition and the way you work with light are truly something I try to study. I often view your images on my 65” TV just to fully enjoy them, learn from them, and make notes. It’s clear you were completely in the zone while photographing the Moonscape overlook. I haven’t yet visited this location, but your images are a true inspiration to make that trip happen sooner. Thank you for sharing your wonderful work.
Easy vote from my end 👍🏻
That country sure does lend itself to abstraction, doesn't it? Still isn't easy to pull off in a compelling way though, and I love what you've done with the elements here.

Parul and Jason, thank you both very much for your positive comments, I value that encouragement!
I see all of these as beautiful photographs. You found a nice vantage point for sure, allowing you to look down on the scene and the light is gorgeous. I'm afraid you created some really beautiful photographs

Late to the thread. One word: fantastic.
Really nice images. I like that you focused on the patterns in the landscape and resisted the urge to push the saturation to much. I like them in their simplicity.
What a great collection Ross, wonderful colors and textures. Echoes of paintings for sure.
When I get lost in an environment like that and keep trying different compositions and perspectives my wife swears that that slows down by at least 3x.
