Nice pixs Dan-

Love brick and stone buildings.
One of the guys teaching us a night class in the fire dept a few years back would show us how you could tell the rough age of a brick building by the way the bricks were facing on the outside. Pretty neat.

The town, Frederick, where these brick buildings are were built with what became "Frederick reds". A type of brick that was made in the mid 1800's from local materials.
All the post colonial period homes were of brick or stone quarried locally from Sams Creek. There was also a "fire brigade" plate embedded on the house for fire insurance purposes. Early insurance companies operated their own private fire brigades, and these marks signaled which homes they were responsible for protecting.
Thanks brother!
