These are just great, lovely use of light with those dark backgrounds, etc.

As much as I want to say that lens looks good (and it does!) I know it was the guy behind the viewfinder that probably had more to do with the results than anything else.

Nice work!

These shots are outstanding! I love shot #2. It would be great to learn of your lighting setup. It looks like you have two lights.

Good eye! These were taken on a photo workshop with a subset focus on macro flash photography. We did some frogs at night and some during the day. The snakes were done during the day (one small eyelash viper was done at night that we found on the trial). The coronated and snouted frogs were done with one light, the rest were done with two soft boxes in a left right clamshell configuration.

Outstanding images!!! Did you use a flash or artificial light source? If so, Can you let us know what/how as these are really great?

Yes, these were all done with off camera flash (speed lights with a small soft box) either a single light held by a non-photographer or a dual speed light set-up in manual mode(left and right) controlled by a camera mounted commander.....pretty easy by the way. 200 ss, f/14-f/16 ISO 200-640 and your just dialing the amount of light with the commander. The frogs were pretty chill, the vipers not so much. I'll post the snakes as a follow-up.

Wonderful images. When I was in Costa Rica, the places that we were able to see frogs did not allow flash photography. Surprised that this was allowed.
