The 40/2 Ultron is my favorite lens of all time. It's the ultimate travel/walkabout lens if you get the smaller version. The orange flare ring is so fun to play with too. It's dope as hell on film, and it's sharp as hell on Z.
I hated the 58/1.4 on Z but I've hated all Noktons to this point, and it was no exception. I actually liked it more on GFX oddly, I thought the focal length was much more useful and the bokeh was still tremendous. Unfortunately, none of those samples are FM friendly

I’ve never had mine flare like that. I must be doing something wrong.

Have you ever noted the mid-zone weakness reported for the VM version?
And have you ever used the 28/2.8 SL II s?
Thanks?
I never looked for it. Since the VM and F mount share the same optical design, I assume both have the mid-zone dip. For me it seems to be on a level that is not practically relevant. I'd happily shoot the 90mm on the Z7 any day.
Never used the 28mm, but from what I read it seems similar in performance to the Nikon 28mm f2.8 AI-S - solid lens, but nothing special by today's standards. Still a good lens if one enjoys manual focus.
40/2: just love that lens. I also recently got the 58/1.4 in F-mount and it is currently sitting on my desk waiting for a sale. It is a good lens, but I don't think it gives me much more vs the native lenses and I'd rather get a 58/1.4G (had one ages ago with film, will be getting one to try with digital now). Great build quality and handles well though, as all those Voigtlander lenses.
By the way my experience is with Canon and Nikon film and digital SLRs. Not used those lenses on mirrorless.
I really want it in the uber rare Olympus OM mount. It would be great to have to glued to my OM4.
One of these days I will find a Nikon body I can get along with.

I've seen the 75mm SL lens in OM mount for sale locally for under 100 dollars, I regret not making the drive to buy it as it was over 3 hours in Jacksonville FL.
I agree with the praise the 40/2's getting. It's a charmer.
I used the latest 28/2.8 and 90/2.8 as part of my hiking kit when I had the F100. The 28 was solid, but, optically, no better than Nikon's AIS 28/2.8. I liked the 90. It's not a razzle-dazzler, but it's nicely compact and much better corrected than the E 100/2.8.
