This sycamore tree is called a "Potomac sycamore" because of its proximity to the Potomac River regardless of the fact that the river is 20 miles away.
But this sycamore has been identified to be over 200 years old. The "old National Road" runs to its right and up the hill. Power lines and phone cables led to much of the right side being "trimmed" out. But it is gigantic! 125ft tall years ago.
The skies this morning were beautiful! I will post the color and b&w here. The sun is to my left and the tree is side lit.
I am going to try and make a "study" of this tree before it leafs.
