Just thought I'd make a quick intro post and say hello
I've known about FM for years and skimmed the forums a few times here and there but never took time to make an account and interact.
I've been taking photos for quite a while but don't really consider myself a photographer, more of a snapshotter. The majority of my pictures have been of daily life, life events, travel, and my kids and rarely with much intent on making art.
But, sometimes I do go out and try to be more creative - but I'm just not very good at that.
My first camera was a Canon G2 and I moved up to DSLRs and used Canon for quite awhile and around 2020 or so I switched to a Fuji and then about a year or so ago I picked up an OM1mk2. I use a mix of my Fuji and OM cameras depending on what my goals are that day.
In the past 2 years I've dabbled in wildlife and I've had a lot of fun failing at sneaking up on birds and then for Christmas I got myself the OM 90mm macro, Godox flash, and an AK diffuser and I don't really know what I'm doing yet but I excited to learn how to use it.
I do have a question. I also have a lot of lenses I don't use anymore and I kept thinking I should try to sell them. I've read that on the buy and sell here that most folks are very wary of new users and it's less likely they would want to buy from them. Would it be worth it to try and post up my gear now or would it make more sense to just sell it elsewhere and maybe try selling here once I've had more interaction with the forums? (If it helps, I do have positive interactions selling on reddit but I don't know how one would confirm that)
Hello and welcome! Nice images you posted, please post more when you have the chance.
Yes, it can be tricky to deal with a new person, as there have been a number of scammers who show up once and awhile. Just keep posting your work and actively participate in whichever forum interests you, and pretty soon you won't be a "newbie"anymore. Once you have 23 posts and establish some credibility you'll be able to post your items here if you choose.
Welcome and fantastic compositions!
If you post more of these quality images, you will have NO problem with FM or its R&R.
Become proactive in supporting YOUR photography here on FM and active members here will have NO problem supporting you!
Now for B&S...I have been here over 20+ years. I have bought from members with NO feedback and have never had an issue. If the item/items are "high dollar" I make vocal contact with the seller or buyer. I do check other "means" for the seller or buyer.
Granted this does NOT insure I will have no issues but my "gut" feeling has been 100% correct to date. If a buyer or seller is "pushing" for a "no fee" payment method...DON'T BUY the "promise of safety"!
Thanks for the feedback Dan/Fred and the kind words I'll do my best to take and post more good photos but I can't promise they'll all be as good as these, but every now and then I pull off a pretty decent photo.
I am going on a overnight backpacking trip this weekend. The Black Fork Mountain Trail in Arkansas, but to keep weight down I'm only taking a Fuji XT5 and 18f1.4 and will be in a group so I'm not sure how many photos I'll get. I don't wanna be the guy they have to stop and wait on every minute because I saw a cool something
Most the items I have for sell are probably in the 400-800 range, mostly fuji lenses and I think one, maybe 2 OM lenses. I think the most expensive lens is the Fuji 150-600.
I noticed on a lot of photos posted here it shows a line under them with the camera model, lens, and exposure info. Are folks typing that in themselves or is there a way to get the site to pull that from exif data? The above files might have had the exif data removed so maybe that's why it doesn't show for them but I wasn't sure.

It is NOT always about a "perfectly seen and composed image" Bruce. It is about what you are trying to convey to the viewer.
Do I post images that might be "tweaked" a bit better before posting? Yes!
My fellow brothers and sisters here will "coach me" if I stray too far!
You are indeed off to a GREAT start!
I am the 1st person my image must please.

I am a new Fuji GFX owner(last Spring). Love to find a GF lens for your price range!
I don't know about B&H's Holiday sale but I got a BNIB GF 20-35mmf4, R WR for $500 off.
OH BTW, how did you photograph #1? Love it!!!
We have a professional astronomer and astro photographer on FM who lives and works at the Jodrell Bank facility in the UK. I will forward the link to him.

Congratulations on your GFX. I've had my 100sII for just a little bit before you got your GFX. I did also get a 20-35 but I can't remember if it was on sale or just pre-tariffs, but I paid just a little more than the current sale price. It's a great lens. I did get the 50f3.5 lens and haven't used it much and do plan to sell that if you're interested It's nice and very compact (lol) for a GFX lens, very fast autofocus, and of course it can take great pictures. I'm just apparently addicted to faster primes.
Most my other fuji lenses for sell are for the X mount. I've largely replaced all my fuji x-mount gear with either the OM1mk2 or the GFX100sii. I still have my XT5 use it for casual stuff where I don't want to be as obtrusive with my camera gear. I love it's retro looks and controls.

Thanks I'm really glad you like it.
That's the 2024 total solar eclipse from Broken Bow, OK.
I took that with a Fuji XT5 and the Fuji 150-600 lens @600mm, 1/100s, f8, and with a Kase solar filter. This was just as the sun was starting to peak back out from behind the moon.
I got a cabin in Broken Bow for the eclipse because the idea of driving down to see it and driving back sounded nightmarish with all the traffic - so we made a nice 3 day family trip out of it.
And after all that planning it ended up having very very heavily cloud cover to the point I couldn't even tell where the sun was at but like some act of God the clouds parted about 10 minutes before the eclipse started. At that point I had already given up and wasn't even looking at the sky, in a bit of a state of depression. My mother in law yells from the other side of the cabin that she could see the sun peaking out. I jumped up and quickly rushed all my gear over there and.. man, I was so happy in that moment.
It was one of the coolest things I've seen and I'm glad I was able to be there with my kids/family and also get a good photo of it.
We also had a 8" Dobsonian telescope setup with a sun filter and got to see things through that too.
I'd like to take time to try and do some astro photography but I've just not done much of it yet. I'm not very good with stuff that has me standing/sitting still for hours. I'm a bit too hyper for it I think. But, the few times I've got myself to go out with my telescope I've enjoyed it. I sometimes wish I got a "goto" mount because I don't do it enough to be very good at actually getting the telescope pointed in the right place, it can be quite the challenge.

It has been a true learning experience for me with MF and the Fuji GFX system. Very tedious for this olde fart!
The Fuji GFX has a great forum under "Fuji".

I probably don't know much (if any) that you haven't figured out but I'm always happy to help figure something out if you have questions. I'm pretty good at understanding the technical parts of things. It's finding creativity that my brain really struggles with.

If you are going to post images, please post them on the appropriate Presentation Forum, or on a Gear-talk Forum related to the gear.
Hi, nice to meet you too Image master.

If you did not delete the EXIF when you saved your image, it will show up if you check the 'Show Exif' box.
Thanks for the info. I just posted a link to the image as I don't have upload permission here at the moment, at least. I'll keep that in mind if I decide to get a membership that allows me to upload directly here.
