Sometimes I miss not having a pop-up flash on my X-E5. The pop-up flash on my X-T50 and older XE models comes in handy in some shooting situations. This afternoon is gray and wintry and there was a camellia blossom I wanted to shoot. I then remembered my little Fuji EF-X8 flash that has been sitting on my shelf for ages. Oh my, what a great little flash for my X-E5!
I'm really liking having the flash available for my E5/23 2.8. Being able to attach it when wanted is very handy. BTW, the fried catfish was delicious!

Fuji used to give away those little flashes with bodies that did not have a pop up. It is a pity they don't do that anymore. Luckily I still have one.
Right, Geoff, that is where I got mine. I think it was either my X-T2 or X-T3. Now the cameras are a lot higher priced and they don't even ship with a printed instruction manual!

To my thinking, if one planned on using a small flash on a regular basis, they’d be better off using say an XT50 with it built in 🤷🏼
Jack, I have an X-T50 with the 16-50 kit lens and it is great! However, the X-E5 with 23/2.8 pancake lens is a completely different shooting experience and a much smaller combo. Both are fine cameras/lenses. The little flash on the E5 gives me the best of both worlds.
I go back to the X-T1 and have enjoyed using the many Fuji cameras I have used since then. However, my E5 is my "go everywhere" camera and I love it. I never go out without it. What a great camera! This is our server at lunch today taken using my little flash.
