Good choice! How do you find the contrast only focus in low light?
Thanks.
Too soon to say for sure, but my early testing in the dark areas of the house have been accurate. These were with the focus aid light ... haven't tested without it yet. Haven't challenged it for anything for speed of AF yet, either.
But, my understanding has been that CD is more accurate, PD is faster ... so, the accurate performance so far is on par with what I'd expect. Will be most curious to see how it performs low light with the focus aid light disabled. Kinda hard to be stealth when you're flashing an orange light around in the dark.

My thoughts exactly. I’m keen to get some unbiased feedback on this. My understanding is that contrast detect AF relies on … well … contrast. Low-light scenes are precisely those where contrast is inevitably low, and I’d like to know how it works with faces and figures in low light when they are not lit up.
The new Ricoh GR4 monochrome apparently has phase detect AF as well as contrast detect, though how they have done this I have no idea.
