Oooo, I got excited when I saw the title of this thread. I love the east side of Zion. It's under appreciated compared to the "main" area west of the tunnel. I recognize the exact area in your second image and have some similar photos from that pullout spot. As always these are all stellar. #6 is stunning.

Thank you Jason! I love knowing you also are a fan of the eastside at Zion. And cool that you recognize an exact spot. So glad you like #6 of the red maple, I was happy to be among that color! There were more cars traveling the eastside road than I recall from past trips, but pulling over and hiking a bit still worked to find peacefulness.
Awesome shots! I've always stuck to the main canyon, but your post convinced me to check out the Eastside next time. Definitely need some of that peace and quiet.

Sorry for being late to the party, Ross. I have not been to the Eastside either... As expected from you, those images are wonderful but the 4th, 6th and 7th are extra sweet.

I am impressed with the subtle nuances and the brilliant ones Ross. Really a great dynamic range on light and colors and wonderful textures!
These make for beautiful images, most enjoyable, thanks and the very best to you in this new year!
Oh, and congrats on a well earned Feature win, I went for the vote button but I am late to the party

Joshua and Karl, I really appreciate your supportive comments!
Ross, I am back viewing this set and what's striking is how you have managed to find your point of interest in a non interesting scene in front of you. A true mark of a good photographer Thanks for the clinic.

Thanks Parul. I find the scenes there to be extremely interesting, they fascinate me and spark my imagination, and that’s a great vibe to create from. When the specific location is filling me with inspiration, then my job is halfway done.

Gosh...these are fabulous! You've shared so much with us from your month or so visiting Utah - thank you!!
Thank you very much, Al! It’s a joy to share with others here on FM these places that are entwined with my heart. I think I’ve posted eight sets so far from my fall trip (mostly UT, a bit of CA and AZ) and I may have seven sets left to post. It was my most productive trip ever and I was quite exhausted once I returned home!
Hey Ross, a little late to the discussion. Awesome collection!
Apropos lenses, I tried that 50-300 but returned it... it didn't do much beyond my 70-200+TC...and no OSS. But it was a fine lens. I'm trying now the new 25-200 for a 1-lens solution to hikes.

Thank you! I lucked out and bought my copy from someone who tested 5 and cherry picked the best. But most of the time I’m shooting its bigger brother, the 50-400, as that range just works superbly for how I see, and not having to stop and fumble with converters on and off is something I really appreciate. Hope that new Tamron works well for you, I have the G1 version.
