I decided to pick up some oyster mushrooms at the Saturday Farmers' Market so I could take another crack at photographing them. I love the shapes. I think my wife isn't very amused by my endeavor because they cost almost as much as morels, so this will likely be my last chance. Fortunately, they are delicious so it doesn't really matter if the image works or not.

I hope they taste as good as they look!

This is just beautiful, great choice on the focus plane and toning.

Love the slight warmth you gave to the final image. In all ways a beautiful subject and superbly processed!

I like this a lot Brent. Well done. Looks like a wall hanger for sure.
Cheers,

Thank you all for the kind words. We ended up chopping most of the mushrooms up, frying them in butter and putting them on top of a frittata. Superb flavor for mushroom lovers.

Very nice Brent, I like every bit of this image - tone, texture, composition, processing and the buttery smooth bokeh! What lens/camera did you use for this? I love the rendering!

Thanks, Scott. I'm glad you like it. I shot this with my M9 (wonderful CCD sensor) and 50mm Summicron V5. I absolutely love that lens. I bought it from someone on this forum about two years ago and it quickly became my favorite. Processing was done partly in SE Pro and partly in Topaz B&W Effects--a fantastic plug-in that Topaz no longer sells or supports with updates. I think my last update from Topaz was about four years ago but it hasn't needed any, in my opinion. I've tried to get them to offer it again due to a resurgence in interest in B&W photography but they won't consider it. They seem to be putting all their R&D into AI these days.
