Amy and I like to come here for lunch, especially around the holidays when they dress the place up a bit. This year the decorations seemed to be scaled back. Is austerity hitting Palm Beach? Say it ain't so!
The Breakers is an old hotel in Palm Beach, the current building, the third incarnation, was opened in 1926 after two previous ones were destroyed by fires. The design is drawn from Italian Renaissance buildings, especially the Villa Medici in Rome, as shown in the detail shots of the ballroom.
