I was wondering if anyone out there has done an actual head-to-head comparison between the 2 - 90mm Voigtlander F-mount lenses? Those would be thee f3.5 Apo-Lanthar from about 20 years ago, and the newer F-mount f2.8 Apo-Skopar. I know Fred did a lengthy review of the M-mount, but I am specifically looking for a comparison with the F-mount. There are differences.
I have the older f3.5 and I guess I could order one from B&H and do my own comparison, but I didn't want to "reinvent the wheel", if possible.
I'm curious about this too, although I wouldn't ever get rid of my 90/3.5 regardless because I love the cosmetics of the original SL lenses and see them almost more as collectables (though I definitely also use them!).
Yes - I have been pleased with the performance of my 3.5. Adapted to my Sony A7RIII, it is sharper than both my Sony 24-105 at 90mm, sharper than my Sigma 90 f2.8 and on par with my old, venerable 105mm f2.5.
However, I am always looking at shaving some ounces off my backpacking/hiking kit, and the 90 f2.8 is lighter. If it is also a tad sharper, then it's "win-win"
