Anybody here have trouble with Peak Design issues? I had purchased one of their Travel Carbon Fiber Tripods for around $400 or so a year or 2 ago. I am out of town and went to use it an one of the legs came off. I tried to put it back together but couldnt figure it out. I went on their website and went to the warranty page and said it had a lifetime warranty. So there was an email to send info to which I did and they emailed back to fill out all the info they wanted including serial number, where purchased, date, proof of purchase receipt etc. It would not allow me to send all the info as I did not have a copy of the recipt to attach to the form. So I then informed Peak Design that I was out of town in Arizona, (I live in Ohio), and needed it repaired and where could I send it in for repair, so I could continue my photography (Macro, Landscape, birrds, wild life). Then no reply on where to send it for repair. Then I sent another email, stressing that I needed assistance ASAP and I was getting upset after 5 days of inaction! Then they stopped sending me anything, needless to say this was unbelieveable. I tried to find a phone number but couldn't find one. This certainly is not how a Company should act. I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT OF THEIRS AGAIN. NO ASSISTANCE WHATSOVER, YAH, THANKS PEAK DESIGN
415-707-4422. They probably really want that proof of purchase to show that it was bought from one of their partnered retailers. Peak Design has been a victim of counterfeit, even Amazon was knocking off their products.
I have found them responsive. I bought a used bag and then the zipper broke. I sent them the serial number, pictures of broken zipper, picture of the serial number and for proof of purchase they accepted my Venmo email (which was what I had when I purchased the bag). They took the bag and sent me a brand new one. This was done all via email.
Peak Design does not communicate quickly. I’ve gotten some answers by calling one of their stores.
A while ago I bought a used aluminum version of their tripod on Ebay. I registered it on line. It came with a broken leg, the sellar -not a photographer I guess, did not know this. Emailed Peak, sent them the Ebay receipt, and they quickly sent me a new leg.
Their warranty is very good, communicating with them is not easy or good.
I had heard great things about their return policy but used it for the first time a few months back for a couple of straps and was nothing but a PITA.... Felt like a criminal jumping thru hoop after hoop - several videos to prove the issue, more pictures, pictures of them cut up, issues since they didn't have the same stuff, so they thought I was trying to get a free "upgrade" and on an on.
Instead of wow, you have gear from our first kickstarter it was me trying to prove I'm not trying to rip them off. Left a very bad taste!
Root issue: The clips loose their tension over time. In the end their newer models are 4 inches shorter than the old ones, so useless for me.
You are over reacting. If they need the receipt, then give it to them. All warranties require that. If you don't, then don't bitch about them. It's on you. Just find another tripod to use for the remainder of your trip and get the PD one fixed when you get home.
