Best ever 18mm is the Zeiss Milvus 18.
While the 15 and 21 are both larger, not only is the 18 significantly smaller and lighter, but the 18 is by a substantial margin the better optical performer.
And compared to anything else in the Milvus product line, it's positively tiny and light.
Is this lens the same as the Milvus 18mm you like so much or does the Distagon designation mean something different; Carl Zeiss Milvus 18mm f2.8 Distagon T* Manual Focus

I agree that the Milvus lenses, in general, are unappealingly large and heavy.
I will observe that my copy of the Zeiss ZF 21mm/2.8 is not optically inferior to my copy of the Milvus 18/2.8. In fact, if I had to pick one of these two lenses to be sure I had the center and sides of the frame equally sharp (my standard measure), it'd be the ZF 21/2.8.
Interestingly, when researching the Milvus 15/2.8, I came across a subtle comment from a known lens reviewer that their tested samples of the Milvus 15mm (several samples) failed to meet the image quality level of the previous version, the ZF.2 15/2.8. So maybe the QC on the Milvus optics, or at least the 15mm, dropped a notch?
