Recently purchased a new to me 500 f/4E FL lens. It came with a decent quality neck strap, but it is too short for my taste, particularly in situations where I may want a second camera with the 100-400 nearby. Lately I have transitioned to QD-based camera straps, howeverthe 500 + Z8 is a heavy combo that I am not sure I would trust to a QD. I already own an Optech strap but it uses their loop connectors that do not fit through the Nikon eyelets. My first inclination is to order the Optech XL webbing connectors, attach to my existing Optech strap and call it a day. Are there other straps I should consider?
Edit: figured out a good solution - buy and extra QD connector, tie it off to your sling strap that already has a QD connector with some strong paracord, and connect the second QD connector the L plate on the body.
