I have now been trying the Voigtlander Ultron f2 and I like it, but it still doenst scratch that itch and I contune wondering about that summilux or summilux alternative that I could have instead.
The summilux 35mm f1.4 FLE is in my radar, but man it's expensive. I'm not even sure if paying for a leica lens nowadays is even worth it, having all the voigtlander, etc. so close in quality to them for a fraction of the price. On the other side, maybe, if I don't take the step for the summilux, I will continue buying cheaper alternative until, in the end, buy the real deal, more expensive that if I just have bought it in the beginning.
The current version of the Leica 35mm Summilux ASPH FLE with close focus is my most used and most productive lens in my collection. Is top level in all aspects in my opinion. Build, handling, and optics.
Will your images be hugely better than the best of the third party options. Probably not noticably so for most people looking at your images. However, I think the total ownership experience will be better for you. My experience is that if bought correctly used you get your money back maybe even a bit more when you sell. That means it is not more expensive in the end. It just takes a larger asset allocation to buy in.
I can tell from your posts that you will eventually have this lens. Avoid to drama and expense of buying down now. Just step up and buy right the first time.

That is what I was thinking about. It was the same with the Leica M11. I wanted to buy the M10-P first, but then I got the possibility to get a M10-R or a M11 for a very good price, so then I began thinking about which one to get. In the end, for me, the best thing I did it was getting the latest one I could afford and the one I would possibly wanten in the future.
Choosing a 35mm lens is almost like Shakespeare's "to be or not to be" question. Everyone finds their own Holy Grail. Over the past 40 years, I've tried about 10 Leica lenses for street and portrait photography. And for the last 15 years, my favorite 35mm lens has been the Summilux 35 FLE. For its silky blur at f/1.4 and flawless focusing when shooting street scenes.
