I just finished "updating" DPP to version 4.21.10.0 and it is now telling me that I will be required to create and use a new "Canon ID" in order to be able to use this software after the first of the year.
I'm not sure I understand what this means. Has anyone run across this notice of required compliance?
Seems to me to be just another way of gathering information and restricting the usage of a product if you don't provide said information.
Yeah they've been doing that for a while. It's the way of the tech world unfortunately. Before long, you'll need to log in to do a load of laundry or open your fridge.
I have not seen it yet and am using Windows 4.20.11.0. Is 4.21.10.0 the first version to require an internbet connection and was 4.20.11.0 the last that did not?
So I installed from Australia as the US site won't let me. The message seems like it applies to future versions, not 4.21.10.0.
New features are coming to Digital Photo Professional around the first half of 2026, such as tailored notifications about news, offers, firmware updates and more. To be able to use the new version of the app, you will need a Canon ID. If you don’t have one, please create one and be ready for these updates.
I'm able to download 4.21.10.0 for Windows from the US site just now without having to log into my Canon account. I also installed it.
At some point down the road I expect that we will all be asked to login in to get our updates.

I keep all of the versions, so will be good for now. Canon is becoming less and less relevant anyway.

EBH
I updated from 4.20.11.0 to 4.21.10.0. I don't think there was a version between these two so this requirement is connected to the newest version.
Now when I open the program I get the following pop up window...

An unfortunate truth I'm afraid.
I am definitely glad I have lived during the years that I have.
The future from here on out certainly looks bleak.
