Oh man, this bug with the camera going into standby mode by closing the display is really annoying. Offering a complete camera reset as a solution seems almost cheeky, considering you can't rely on a backup of the settings. I'm certainly not going to go through the 100,000 menu items, submenus, and the FN menu, and potentially recreate all the "My Menu" settings. And then there are the custom settings. It's a nightmare. And nobody knows how well or how long this workaround will last. I just hope that version 6.01 will be released soon, fixing the bugs in version 6.0.

Unfortunately, the settings file which you can export from the camera is a proprietary binary format. I made a couple feeble attempts at decoding it without success. So converting the exported settings into a human readable format seems unlikely.

This crappy update is causing my battery to drain completely. After a few days of not using it, the half-full battery was completely dead, so the camera wouldn't turn on anymore. I've never experienced anything like this with my camera before.🤬

You can try this old trick when you turn off the camera, take out the battery and then press and hold the shutter button for like half a minute. This is supposed to discharge some capacitors but it did work for some people.

I was nearly going to update from 3.1 to 6.0, but fortunately (unfortunate for those with now bricked cameras) I held off. I did update to 5.1 through the Creator's app.

Update installed via the app. The error is fixed, and all individual settings have been retained. Everything is perfect. It's great that Sony fixed the issue so quickly.

I updated 6.00 --> 6.01 from a memory card. With 6.01 the camera seems to power up more quickly.
Yes, it now starts up as quickly as before update 6.0, which, in my opinion, had multiplied the startup time.

Mine is still on an older fw without the 3rd party battery nag. Never updating lol
So far, not a single firmware I've used has complained about a third-party battery, lol.

Lucky. I have an another Sony body that has the warning and it's annoying
It could be luck, but I don't rule out that it's because I've never used third-party batteries before. 😄
