Shooting an indoor Christmas market for a local client and I wanted to get some high-angle shots. In past years I'd drag out a big ladder and put it in the middle of the action. This was very disruptive even then, but not at all practical now that the market has gotten more densely packed. (Besides which, I'm less and less interested in standing on tall ladders these days.)
My answer was to cobble together a sort of 12-foot monopod using bits and pieces I had in my gadget cupboard. A 12-foot carbon fiber painting pole, a 5-inch 4K monitor, two wireless remotes, a monopod head, a safety tether, and some clamps. I didn't want too much weight at the top, as it would make it hard to stabilize, but the combination of the Z7ii and Viltrox 14mm was perfect. Not too heavy, and great performance.
I got a few curious looks as I moved around holding up this giant pole, but it worked perfectly.

Nice work, I made similar for Real Estate back in the day with a 16’ painters pole. Cut the top off and affixed a 1/4” thread to the top and a Manfrotto QR plate. Height makes a big difference, I don’t use it often anymore but it’s irreplaceable the couple times I do!
