We're planning a trip to the area. If anyone has done this before, I'm trying to pack light and I'm curious as to how much you might have used a telephoto (think 100-400, or similar)?
I did a trip to Norwegian fjords last year and I did find myself using my 70-200. So 100-400 would be handy as it covers a huge range. Beautiful country, you will enjoy it.
When I went to Norway on a cruise a couple years ago, all I took was 35 mm lenses and shot on film. But I'm less a wildlife, photographer and more Street/ landscape stuff. With travel I always minimize the gear so the choices are easier
I went to Norway on last July. I had 24-70, 70-200 and 50/1.4. The standard zoom was the most used lens; however, I suggest bringing the 70-200 as well, because it has come in handy on several occasions. As an aside, I used it more in cities than in fjords.
Then a lot depends on the type of trip; if you plan to photograph wildlife, 200 mm may not be enough.
Here is a gallery from that trip: https://img.gg/Ig9CsmX

I've just been through the photos I took in the Norwegian Fjords last summer.
I had the 16-35Z, 20-70G, and 100-400GM with me. Of 788 shots, only 47 were tighter than 70mm and 40 of those were at 70mm in APS-C crop for 105mm equivalent (26MP on the A7R4). So each of those shots with the 100-400 weighed 215 grams, and none of them were even good anyway! Only 33 shots were at wider than 20mm (only one of which was a banger) so if I were to go again I might bring only the 20-70. Or a 14/16-35 and 24-105 or something like that. The 20-70 really did a lot of heavy lifting on that trip.
Unless wildlife is a focus I'd leave the 100-400 at home.
