I know how to zero adjust my older Sekonic meters but just picked a 1970 era Gossen Pilot. It has a zero adjust screw on the back but I don’t see a calibration mark on the scale. Do I cover the sensor and move the needle to the far left?
Does it take a battery or a selenium cell? If it's photovoltaic, cover the sensor with your hand to block any light. There's a small mark on the left side of the needle window. Adjust the needle until it aligns with the mark. If it uses a battery, I can't help.

I see it now tilting the meter a bit and using a flashlight. Thanks for that.
I have a few fairly recent Sekonic meters but I’m starting to use a 6x9 film camera hand held and wanted something smaller than the sekonics for pocket carry. Plus the lens on the camera is an f/8 Super Angulon so most of my work with it will be outside. If I need to use a tripod then I’ll use the bigger sekonic meters I have now.
