Thanks for sharing the costs, helps give a worst case answer to what can happen.
Some laptops have sub-boards for the I/O connectors to more easily be replaced. There may be no space to do that in a camera.

THAT IS AMAZING. And about time. Ive been able to solder a couple but as they started miniaturization on everything I was fearful for the day I would encounter one I couldn't. Similar to how they are making cars to where it takes an hour to swap a headlight bulb. They just dont want people working on things.
The subboard is a simple change up that can extend the life and avoid more stuff landing in landfills.

Looks like the Z8 has a separate I/O board for the mic/headphone ports but not the USB ports. Here's Nikon's self-service guide for the Z8 - the IF board is on page 47. You'll have to manually select the below link and paste it into your browser's URL bar:
