Can you give a bit more info? Are you in tracking or non-tracking? What are you seeing for AF confirmation? Square? Dancing squares? No Confirmation? In AF settings do you have it restricted to head -eye? Or is Head - eye-body enabled?
... and perhaps more importantly: which bird? AI only sees what's been in the training set. If the birds you're shooting are rare, living in a small and isolated habitat and weren't considered for training, they are not birds as far as AI is concerned.

That's not how it works - AI will pick up anything that looks like a bird so the training doesn't have to include every species. I guess if it doesn't look like a bird you may have problems ... in which case try auto
