p.1 #1 · Small flashes for Leica Q series and best options?
Has anyone tried the new compact flashes with the Leica Q series cameras? I'm not sure if any have TTL or TTL that would work with Leica but they seem to be cheap and small. I just bought a Q2 and don't really know what's available but would like something for low light snapshot style photos.

For TTL you have the Leica SF40 and SF60. Both are rebadged Nissan flashes and double the price of a Nissan. No one makes a hot shoe TTL flash for Leica, except these. Older Leica TTL flashes are hit and miss for functionality.
For off camera TTL you can choose from Profoto and *sometimes* Godox (check compatibility of the Godox triggers).
For on camera manual flash there are dozens of options. The new little Godox flashes are popular as they are tiny and decent value.

Leica TTL flash is kind of crap anyway unless you're in a very controlled environment (like studio) so a manual flash will actually suffice for something like fill flash on the go..i use a Godox IM20

Interesting. I have always used manual flashes on my Leicas M and SL. I have been hoping that a good, afordable TTL HSS solution would become available for event style work.

Godox also makes the iA32, which has an auto mode and sells for around $50. I picked mine up on sale for $35 a couple of months ago. It’s not the prettiest flash, but it works well, and the auto function is convenient so you don’t blow things out. The Nikon SB-30 is also a great option if you want a tiny flash with auto capabilities.

TTL:
Profoto Connect pro for Leica paired with an off camera A2 or A1x/A10, B10 etc.
Godox X3 L can be used as sender for an OCF. Godox it32 or any other godox, fD100Pro II, AD200Pro II, AD600Pro II, AD600BM II, iT30Pro, V100, V480, + Lux Master models.
X5l will works with M3, M4, M5, M6, M7, M8, M9, and M10 only.

I can confirm the X5 works reliably in TTL with the Q116, Q3, SL3, M10-R and M246 Monochrom. TTL exposure has been quite consistent in my testing.
In practice it can easily replaces my SF24 and SF40 units. Considering the price difference, the Leica flashes now feel difficult to justify when a ~$100 Godox iT32/X5 delivers comparable results. For mor accurate results i will suggest profoto.

Excellent news. I have heard it will also work on the M11. If true Leica shooters now have access to a powerful flash system at a great price. Finally!
