p.1 #1 · Ecuador Photo Workshop October 2025 | |
Hello friends, I'm sharing my latest newsletter with you.
As always, your comments are welcome.
At the beginning of October, we had our scheduled tour in Ecuador with Trogon Photo Tours, and it was truly one of the most productive and exhausting trips I've had since starting this job.
During our trip, we explored northern Ecuador, including the Andean foothills and inter-Andean valley, and also extended our journey into the Amazon. In total, it was 19 days of travel, over 260+ species photographed, and many wonderful memories.
As those who have traveled with me know, my main focus during these trips is helping clients achieve the best possible photographs, so the photos I'm sharing are just a small sample of the results our clients obtained.
One of the most special moments of the trip was our encounter with a juvenile Black and Chestnut Eagle by the roadside—undoubtedly a moment I had dreamed of since I began nature photography.
I also have to say that I'm very happy with my new Sony A1ii, I'm still getting used to the new camera, but I must say I'm really enjoying the Pre-Capture option and I'm very pleased with the results.
In my tests, I obtained very good results with a minimum shutter speed of 1/4000 and an aperture between f/5.6 and f/7.1, provided the ambient light allowed it. Regarding ISO, I had to increase it to 12800 to ensure a good shutter speed; however, even after noise reduction with DXO, the image quality remained very good.
I'm currently in Peru with another group of enthusiastic photographers, searching for the beautiful birds of the northern part of the country. I'll share some photos with you in a couple of weeks.
Regards, Javier
