I'm advocation for a 100/1.0 that is TC compatible. It would basically be equivalent blur to the 200/2, if cropped to equivalent framing, given they would share a 100mm entry pupil size.
While faster than 200/2 would be cool, I'd rather have a very fast 'moderate' tele that IMO would be more flexible and suitable for typical portraiture working distances.
A 100mm 1.0.... I am in!

Great shots there, and congratulations on obtaining an (apparently) pristine copy of this legendary lens.
Funny that my perception of it is defined by the (minor) difference in numbers: f/2.0 (irrationally) seems "not a big deal, just a bit faster than f/2.8" whereas f/1.8 is "great, so cool and fast".
Must be the 1 vs 2 at the start of the figure.
It's also a bit odd that neither Sigma nor Laowa opted to go for an f/1.8 design, stopping at "just" f/2.0. Let's see if Viltrox takes up the challenge next and goes all the way.
Thanks for the kind words!
I hear you about the perception indeed, it can play really funny mind tricks
Yeah I wonder why nobody tried to go down to that 1.8 to separate themselves from the rest. Maybe they wanted a specific size/weight and cost?

Cause it wouldnt make sense for ME to own both since I would be using the 1.8 every time
Of course, some people have both and that is cool too.
Why not get all three? I saw that a store in Toronto has an FD 200mm f1.8L available... but the asking price is pretty steep.

This is a very rare lens but would certainly avoid the fear/risk of electronic component failure, such as the USM or aperture mechanism. Though it's arguable how important the aperture mechanism is if you're going to shoot it wide open most of the time.

The New FD 200/1.8L is a pre-EOS, manual focus lens.

It will also be significantly easier to adapt to an R-series body than it was with the old EF mount cameras.
