Has anyone tested the Light Lens Lab 35 against the Voigtlander 35? Any thought? Both have been recommended. Thanks again for your insight.

Which 35mm Voigtlander? There are like 10 options.

Gosh, Todd, spend like $500-750 and try out a lens-used or new. We all have different likes and dislikes.

I have both the LLL 35 and VM 35 1.4 I like the old school glass color render of LLL better, but the VM is 1/3 the cost, slightly lighter in the weight, and is 1.4F wide open. But side by side I do like the 35 LLL for landscapes and open spaces better with its color, I dont shoot people and their activities much. All this is of course subjective taste rather than fact- and if I am shooting film especially BW the VM with its 1.4- up with a ND carry is more flexible and great. The VM is a great lens for the money, the LLL pushes into good copy leica used territory for cost. You will do well with either lens.

I agree. @_jim_ let me borrow his LLL 35 8E for a few weeks. It’s a nice handling and capable lens but being a film user, the ability to open up to 1.4 is huge. For a occasional use character lens, it’s hard to beat the Nokton.
I like the 35mm LLL 8e. I like it so much I bought a 2nd copy here on FM last week. On digital 2.0 vs. 1.4 doesn't matter so much, especially with more modern sensor M's.
I would get either that lens or one of the recommended Voigtlanders. That's your best bet for wading into the waters without spending a lot of dough. Get a used copy on FM and you'll be more or less cash neutral if you decide to sell.
