I was sitting on my sister's porch first week in October and watched this monarch feeding on one of her flowers. Seems kind of late to be that far up north, but we had unseasonably warm weather. It was going at this one plant for a good 45 minutes. Then it took a 10-minute rest in a pine tree and went back at it. I'm not sure what kind of flower that is, but to the monarch the nectar must have been Dom Perignon. :-) I just squeezed off a few shots of it.
I realize this pic has all kinds of flaws, but I think the pose is pretty crazy. maybe I'm wrong but I can't recall seeing one like it.
Oh, and that red in the background bokeh is a big red reflector on the back of a blue tractor. I did plan that part. :-)
