p.1 #1 · Rumor: Not One But Two 100-400mm Lenses Are About to Be Relased (and More)
According to SAR, two 100-400mm lenses are going to be announced soon:
i) 100-400mm F4 GM version II which will be the successor to the 7 year old 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM. It will be a fixed aperture lens this time.
ii) 100-400mm G: this will be a variable aperture, light weight lens.
Some people may remember I have always advocated and wished for a light weight 100-400mm G lens. I am very glad Sony has finally decided to make one (assuming the rumors are true). I used to own a 100-400mm GM before which I replaced with a Sigma 100-400mm art lens which is lighter than the Sony. However, I have still been wanting a lens lighter than the Sigma.
I have already placed my Sigma 100-400mm lens in the used market for sale, preparing to acquire the 100-400mm G lens.Of course it needs to be seen how light and compact it is. I am guessing it is will be close to the 70-200mm f4 G lens in size and weight (with zoom extension). that is, it will weigh about 800gr. The Sigma is 1100gr.
iii) Third rumor: Sony will also release a fast f2 ultra wide angle zoom lens at the same time. I am thinking to place my 14mm f1.8 lens in the market for sale too, lol.
