I recently went on a 17 day trip to practice and race. I was able to fit in a day to photograph Old Car City in White, GA. I have been wanting to go there for quite some time. It was an awesome experience to finally get there. Its sprawled over 44 acres and I walked it a few times with my different lenses on. This is a place I could spend days in. So much to photograph and "take in".
Maryland outlawed places like this many years ago and we did have a few of these in smaller versions.

Junk yards were proclaimed "an environmental hazard" and an eyesore. Yes there are a very few but they are contained in a "sterile environment".
No more sprawling yards like this.
My very 1st car came from a junk yard like this in 1963...I was 15yrs old..

Yes, that would make sense. This place was out in the "sticks". They warned me about potential "living hazards" that may exist in or around the cars and was encouraged not to go in-between them and in them.

I lived "out in the sticks" then Joel. That was where the acres and acres of car heritage went to die. The local Counties needed revenue so they fully taxed the property owner on the basis of "non agricultural" use despite the fact that it was on a farm that DID have crops, dairy or beef. However minimal it was compared to the "junk yard". Greed brother!
Now the area is a "claw hand" of DC!
As Joni Mitchell sings, "they turned paradise into a parking lot"!

Yes, TY! I thought it was worth the trip. You are roughly 8 to 9 hours away right? I think you would love it. I walked it 3 times with different lenses. I didnt want to miss anything knowing it would be along time before I had a chance to get back there if ever.
We have something similar in Germany—and I've wanted to photograph it for decades. Thanks for reminding me. I really must get around to it. My favorite is picture no. 4. I think the photos almost seem human—as if these old vehicles had facial features. You can sense the aging, the sidings, character, emotion... almost like silent portraits with a history. Very beautiful.
