OK, I feel like such a noob but I do not see anywhere in the menus Focus Peaking. Under Focus Aid I only see 'AF Assist Lamp' and 'Auto Magnification'. I have the Zeiss Distagon 35/1.4 on the camera via generic adapter. Camera is set to MF.

You need to go to Capture Assists in the menu:

Thanks Huss - I set up only 1 info profile that includes focus peaking with sensitivity set to high. However, I do not see any focus peaking color. Strange . . .
In fact, when I play back an image I see the focus peaking on the just shot image on the LCD. But I don't see it on the LCD or EVF when focusing.
Here's a picture as it appears on the LCD during playback. But the blue peaking color did not show on the LCD or EVF when focusing. Focus was on the white plastic box with writing on top. Sorry for the crappy phone pic.

You have to hit the FN button to cycle though the different display options.
Tried that. I only have one display profile active. When I press the FN button, nothing happens and no visible sign that the profile has changed. I even activated a second profile. One with focus peaking and one without. I modified the display to make sure I could tell one from the other. While the display did change, I could not see focus peaking on the LCD or EVF.

Hmmm. I have set it up so that I have a normal display, then peaking and then a 'clean' view, and have no problems ever.
Only other thing I can think of is that a fn button has been mapped to temporarily deactivate the peaking?
Thanks for this. I tried assigning a function button to toggle focus peaking and it does nothing. No message that focus peaking is on or off. Makes me fell like I'm missing something or worse . . . focus peaking is dead on this camera.

NP.... I have gotten frustrated figuring this camera myself. Not as intuitive as it may seem at first!
One more question, are you seeing the focus peaking icon at all? (Something I only just learned about trying to figure this out)

I am not seeing the focus peaking icon. Yet, focus peaking is turn on in Profile 1. It is off in profile 2 with a different display. I CAN toggle between profiles with the FN button so I know I'm in the right profile.

Turn off the camera. Pull the battery and memory cards. Wait a minute. Put them back and try again.
I reset the camera and re-ran through all the menus. Not sure what I missed the first time through but focus peaking appears to be working. It works at normal view and when zoomed in. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
I just found that enhanced live view disables focus peaking.... Wonder if that was it. That being said, I am pretty sure peaking worked when magnified.....

I think that was it. I think I had enhanced live view on. DOH!

I only found it on the 3rd time through the manual, only in the section about ELV. Would be nice if they referenced it in the focus peaking section..... But whatever.
I ran up & checked my SL3, peaking is visible in magnified view, albeit less with much less intensity

Thanks to all for the help. Now I have one follow up question:
Is there a way to not have the focus peaking color appear on the resulting image? It makes it hard to judge the image on the LCD.
Yes as a matter of fact! (And this wasn't super apparent to me either at first) Oddly the display settings when shooting are the same as selected for viewing, Leica calls it 'Toggling Info Levels' I believe. So you have to cycle through the display options with the FN button when viewing images just as while shooting. The 'info levels' I have are as follows;
Full details; Icons, grid, level, histogram etc
Same as above, plus peaking
Nothing whatsover / Clean screen (primarily for viewing images after, not used for shooting much)
Thankfully, the camera remembers the info level you view images last with, so if you want to shoot with peaking, but view without, all's you have to do is set the info levels in both modes.
