p.1 #1 · Question about focus peaking on X-E5 with adapted lenses
Hi! I'm trying to use an M-mount lens on my X-E5 using a dump adapter. I can't get focus peaking to work. I can focus using the magnified view but none of the focusing aids work.
I also have an X-T5. On that camera peaking works fine.
Can peaking be used on the X-E5 with a contact-less MF lenses?
p.1 #2 · Question about focus peaking on X-E5 with adapted lenses
I don't know for sure as I don’t own a X-E5, but every other Fuji camera I have owned (eight in total) allow focus peaking with dumb adapters, so it would be a major step backwards if the X-E5 did not.

Tried it with an adapted MD lens - indeed none of the focus aids are available. Needs to be fixed in a firmware update (along with the reset of the MF zoom function when half pressing the shutter button).

Have you put your camera in manual focus mode? The various focus aids won't show up otherwise with "dumb" adapters and lenses. Also, try cycling through the view modes with the Disp/Back button.

Yep, that's it. I just verified with my X-E5. Peaking works well with a (dumb) adapter and lens, but you need to be in M focus mode.
The fact that you can't exit peaking and magnification with a half press of the shutter doesn't make any sense to me though. That would be a welcome firmware fix.

Again: With dumb adapter, MD lens, MF setting - no focus peaking on my X-E5. Doesn't matter which Display setting I chose. Strange.
In the AF/MF menu, MF Assist. Have you actually set up peaking there? It's clearly just a settings issue somewhere on your part. I don't have an E5, but all Fujis behave similarly despite different controll layouts and have so since the "ancient" days.

Of course I have set peaking to "on". So you don't own an X-E5?

Wierd. Something overlooked somewhere I am sure, as other users get the peaking.
And no, But I have owned a camera from almost every generation since the original X100 with the bayer sensor. X-Pro1, X-T1, X-T2, X-T3, X-T5, X-E3, 100s II. Despite different body layouts and evolving firmware and menus/functions, they are extremely similar and built on each other.
