The Viltrox is tempting but I have issues switching my muscle memory to adjust for different lenses when swapping them. My Sigma operates like my GM lenses so changing lenses doesn't feel like changing systems.

I ended up with the Viltrox, and I'm very happy with it so far. Haven't had any issues with focus or anything, though it is the heaviest lens I have in my arsenal.
My husband performed a lens centering test and found it to have minimal to no decentering. He has the Sony 35mm 1.4 GM and we can't really tell which one is the sharpest.

I purchased the Sigma 35mm f1.2 when it was released in 2019 and happily shot it for five years. Earlier this year, I replaced it with the new Viltrox 35mm f1.2.
I recently decided to replace the Viltrox lens with the VII Sigma to save a couple hundred grams, so I put the Viltrox up for sale.
Today, I viewed Dustin Abbot's newly released comparison of the three lenses. Curious, I just shot my MTF 50 test charts with my A1 II. I compared my Sony GM 35mm f1.4 to my Viltrox 35mm f1.2 (Sony at f1.4 and Viltrox shot at f1.2!).
I was amazed with the results. They were essentially the same as Dustin Abbott's. The Viltrox was a bit sharper (across the frame) than the Sony lens, even when it was at f1.2. The more amazing thing was that Contrast of the Viltrox lens was noticeably better than my Sony lens. The star patterns on the test chart were vivid black with the Viltrox lens, but not so much with the Sony lens. I could see the same relative effect when viewing Dustin's Sigma II images against the other lenses.
I just deleted my For Sale post for the Viltrox lens. This thing is a keeper (for now), and for me, now worth carrying the extra couple hundred grams. Darn it! ...Show more →
I sold my sigma f1.2 mark I and now is using the Nikon 35mm f1.2 main reason is I can shoot faster than 1/8000 on my z8. Sony really need to have an updated mid tier body that can go higher than 1/8000. That used to be the a9 but the new a9iii is really expensive.
I think the bokeh of the Nikon is very good and flares much less than my old sigma.

I had the first 35 1.2 Art lens for few months, ended up selling it because of the 35GM. I think the new version is the ultimate 35mm portrait lens now on Sony system, I'd definitely buy it over GM now, but selling my used GM for a new Sigma not worth it for me (I have to add 50% of GM resale value to get the DNII.)

I just received my Sigma 35mm f/1.2 II over the weekend. I really really like the image quality! I'm so happy I decided to go with the Sigma over the GM.
