p.1 #1 · A secure way to attach a camera onto a light stand with light on top

There are a few situations where I wish I can attach a camera on a light stand, instead of keeping the light and camera on two seperate supporting system. I am aware of the smallrig magic arm, but I have doubt this will work for a 6lb camera setup. The arms looks too weak. I am thinking about using an oversized super clamp and attach a levelling plate on top. I am open to other suggestions if there are better options out there.

It would be far safer to put both camera and light on a good tripod than attempting this with a light stand, especially when a 6 lb camera and light are placed on it. Most light stands can tip over for almost no visible reason, even when no weight is on them. There have been times when I have taken several tripods with me on shoots for this reason. If I wanted a light higher than that I found something to put the tripod up on. I think I have 6 or 7 tripods and 2 camera stands right now, so plenty to take when needed. Nature has a sense of humor, and one single puff of wind will sometimes come up on your shoot to prove this. There are brackets that can be attached to both tripods and light stands that offer up to 4 attachment points with the same 1/4-20 threaded stud at each point for attaching cameras and lights. Cold shoes can be added if you want to use speedlites or constant LED lights. I have one of these brackets that I attach to my video camera when I want to add an LED light on each side of the camera. Most of my video work is handheld, but I sometimes switch to adding them to one of my tripods when no place else is available to set the camera and lights down or when shooting with a long lens and I need a more steady shot. Of course, the longer the shot, the less need for these small LED lights, but they are great when doing interviews at less than 10' distance.

There are lots of options to get this done but here's one, combine both of these.
- Manfrotto 035 Super Clamp
- Manfrotto 208 3/8" Head Mounting Plate with Lock Screws

Slap a ball head on it and you are good to go.
