p.1 #1 · Not all Canon LC-E6 battery chargers are the same
There are at least two different version even though they are both labeled "LC-E6".
Look closely at the specifications on the back. I have one that says its output is 8.4V @ 1.0A, the other says its output is
8.4V @ 1.2A, plus it is physically heavier.
Guess which is better at charging the newer batteries?

At least 10 years ago they had 1.2A chargers.
I cannot find the last thread that talked about it, but there are many versions of the Canon charger. Several companies have made versions of it over the years, but the more recent versions seem to be the 1.0A one.

Hmm, maybe my chargers got mixed up when I was selling the 5D3 and 7D2.

Not necessarily. The 7D2 launched in 2014, which is about the same age as one of the 1.2A chargers that I have. (Made by JET). The LP-E6 goes back as far as 2008 in the 5DII, so it's been around for a really long time. It's possible the original chargers could have been 1.0A, then some companies made a 1.2A version, then they went back to 1.0A versions. There has been many different manufacturers and I don't know of anyone who has a detailed list of when stuff was made because it's all sold under the same model number.

Am I crazy or is there also a compatibility issue with some third party batteries too?
I remember not being able to charge my older Wasabi (?) LP-E6 clone on a newer LP-E6 charger. I assume newer third party batteries don't have this issue.
