Is that a ring of ice around the perimeter of the water in the first, Rajan? Is Autumn pretty short season in Iceland?
Douglas
Douglas,
Yes, that’s a ring of ice. And yes, Autumn is very brief, a blink-and-you-miss-it deal. While September is nominally Autumn, we have peak colour for only about a week. Traditionally, Icelanders spoke of just two seasons - summer and winter - which makes perfect sense here.

Rajan, late to the party Fantastic set of images. 2 & 4 are really nicely composed, the ridge line leads me right into the image. What an experience to witness this! Great work

Beautiful images, Rajan. I also visited your blog and appreciated how today's post-processing helped bring out more "life" from your Diwali 2006 5D images. Inspired me to revisit my own 5D images.

Fantastic set. How much post processing did you do for these and how much is just Canon colors? That last one in particularly is really grabbing me.

These pictures remind me yet again to visit Iceland. The landscape is like nowhere else on earth! Are these places hard to get to as tourists?
The first scene is easily accessible, located at the well-known lake Frostastaðavatn near Landmannalaugar. Although the route to Landmannalaugar can be driven in a normal car, it is not recommended. It is preferable to travel in a properly modified vehicle or with a guide. The remaining images are from the same general area but can only be reached either by hiking or by aerial transport.
