Curious how much you paid? I am considering to purchase one again…love that camera.

Found a good 50R at a decent price, so I’m in the game. I don’t have any lenses yet, but will start with a 35mm summilux in m-mount. I know the image circle won’t cover, but I’m hoping it’s usable in 65:24 aspect ratio until I can figure out what I want natively.

Okay...but had you not challenged me on my analogy as being not good, which I guess I erroneously inferred meant it was bad....which now you are saying it wasn't bad nor good I guess....I wouldn't have used the word hijacking. It just seems that there is a continuation of a back and forth between some of the members here, that are probably never going to agree.
It's up to the OP to decide whether the thread he started had meandered, not me. The reality is that your idea vs my idea vs his idea of what is the wheat and what is the chaff in this thread is going to be different.
And at this point I regret posting anything at all. So my apologies to everyone, at this point arguably I'm the hijacker of the thread, even if that connotation was too harsh in the context I originally used it.

Tim, I am against challenging anyone, and I am sorry if my response made that impression.
Regarding, "there is a continuation of a back and forth between some of the members here", this doesn't annoy me personally. Even, to the contrary, I am now becoming familiar with the characters of the long-term FMers, and this feels like an extended "family" where there is a range of personalities, life experiences and opinions that is perfectly all right, except when (very rarely) there's an unnecessarily rude comment from someone. But even those who allow themselves rude comments can often make valid points and might be worth listening to.

$2200 for what is supposed to be a mint body with a low shutter count from a well regarded private seller. Also came with a few accessories and extra batteries. I looked for two weeks and it was the best deal I could find. I should have the camera tomorrow.
I've found eBay to be worthless these days because of the buyer paying taxes and the seller paying astronomical fees...

Yeah, eBay is worthless as a seller unless you are prepared to take a huge hit in fees compared to market value.
The 50R prices in America are absurd. They can still be found around and sometimes under $2k here in Japan, and strangely I've seen some outstanding deals for them in Thailand. One of my buddies here in Okinawa just got one, last week, and so far he and I are very impressed by it. The digital XPan mindset is probably 95% of why he got it. That's also a large part of why I'm interested. Panasonic cameras are about as uninteresting to me as Sony... I'd be more likely to grab another Sigma FP if I wanted to shoot wide jpgs, but I really like the controls and jpgs out of the GFX.
