So now I have started to snap away and capture some lovely pictures I have started to notice some of the old services I used to use are not quite as good as they used to be at providing high resolution large file hosting (looking at you Flickr with free accounts not even now able to show the original resolution etc). Which services do you folk recommend for being able to share your pictures at full quality that are either free for quite cheap 🙂 I recently noticed how badly iMessage is at downgrading pictures when sending them to friends and family too.
We spend all this money of awesome camera equipment to then have so many services try to downgrade the quality 🤦♂️

That’s a fair comment 😁 but for me this is only a hobby I don’t make any money from it so the sharing aspect is to just show people around me things they often don’t get to see themselves. E.g. showing my family pictures of a magpie with details you wouldn’t see unless up close etc.
But you are correct if I was doing this professionally I absolutely wouldn’t mind subscribing to some high end pro services to make sure images would be at their absolute best.

My comment wasn't meant to be malicious, and I've experienced this myself. So, no offense. I hope you get some useful tips alongside my unhelpful comment.

I use Pbase and it appears that I pay $23/year for up to 3GB of storage. Here is a sample from my account - https://pbase.com/maineac/birds_of_2025.
I like it because it's easy to choose a viewing size you can easily add a description.

Excellent thanks this is just the type of thing I am looking for. You have some lovely pictures in there. Is it quick and easy to upload new / remove no longer needed photos ?
Can you also reference the photos when uploaded on pbase to be used to post on forums like this one ?

Ha! I thought I was the only one who used pbase.
I like it because it's ridiculously simple. It's about as quick as possible to upload, reorder, edit titles and the like. It has its own ideas about how things should be done and takes a bit of getting used to, of course. I could probably make my account there a quite a bit nicer if I put the time in.
It automagically resizes things, but leaves your file as you uploaded it as one of the options. Here's me with a Rolleiflex in 1971 or so, autimagically resized...

Flickr paid accounts aren’t really that expensive, and you aren’t likely to get what you are looking for at a zero cost. (I think it might be around $80/year at this point, with unlimited uploads and images pretty much as large as you want.)

If you already use amazon prime, photo storage is unlimited. It works well for simple sharing. Video storage is limited but upgrade costs are reasonable at 2TB for $12/mo. Uptime is 99.999% because it's AWS.

Every new program has a learning curve but I didn't think this one was difficult. Once set up it's very easy to get things done usually taking just a click or two like adding or removing photos. You can choose top or bottom and once there you can easily reorder and put it wherever you want. You can even substitute in a new photo to fix that mistake you forgot.
I don't know how you would use a photo in a forum like this one but I would guess you can.
And thank you for - "You have some lovely pictures in there."
