Does every Tamron 100-400mm f/4.5-6.3 di vc usd require af adjustment? I've been considering getting the Tamron 100-400mm to use for BIF with a Nikon D7500. Many reviews indicate that many copies required adjustment via the Tamron Tap In Console. I would appreciate hearing from folks who have purchased this lens and what their experience has been.
As a matter of course you should check calibration of lenses (especially teles) and adjust as needed. Since the D7500 does this I'd try that first before being concerned about buying the Tamron TAP-in dock. Regardless of how the lens is adjusted you should still check the AF Fine Tune with each camera body.
I had one a couple of years ago, and used it a lot with a D7500 and a D500 for BIF's and other general photos. It worked fine and produced excellent images, without any need for adjustment with the Tap-In Console or calibration of the camera. I would buy another one without any hesitation.
I have a Tamron 18-400 lens, and it's the only lens that I take with me now. Well, a 50 mm sometimes goes too. There isn't much that causes me to wish that I had another or more lenses with me any more. Close-ups or far away shots are easy with just this one lens. A much lighter camera bag now too. Although this is a fairly heavy lens, it's lighter than the weight of the three lenses that I used to take for that range. Though I have a Canon 90D, I usually have this Tamron lens on one of my 77D cameras and they reside in my GO Bag. I can grab it and go wherever I need to without needing to consider if I have the right lenses for what I'll be shooting, packed in the bag. I was a bit worried about whether or not this lens would work well at it's extremes, but I have stopped worrying, since every shot near or far has been great, well unless I screw up another camera adjustment. Tamron has great lenses and I own or have owned several others. Few others have the features that Tamron can pack into them, and I like this.

I can't remember for sure, although I think it was "like new" with very little studio use, from this site. I also bought a tripod collar for it, maybe an iShoot (?). The lens worked perfectly on my Nikon DX cameras, producing sharp, nicely-contrasted images, and it focused as quickly as one would want on flyiing Mallards on the river, which can be somewhat challenging for a lens/camera combination, as you well know.
I am seriously considering buying another one to use on my D850 when I don't want/need the Sigma 150-600C I usually use for waterfowl on the river.
I have that lens and have used it in combination with my Canon 5D IV. I worked ok but it didn't seem very sharp until I tried it while using live view and it looked so much better. Of course on my mirrorless body it focuses beautifully a produces really good results.
I tried doing the lens calibration within the camera body, not through the console, but maybe I didn't do it right because it didn't help very much. I don't know... I think I'm going to have to try doing it again.
