My wife and I spent a couple days in Point Reyes National Seashore this week. On our second day we hired Daniel Dietrich from Point Reyes Safaris for a guided photography tour. We were specifically interested in bobcats and coyotes but would take whatever he could find. He let us to a spot where the local river otters have displayed a behavior that had never been documented until very recently. This group of otters has started preying on the pelicans in the area. We were able to watch them make an attempt to catch a pelican, but it was really foggy and my pictures were basically unusable. So on our third day we headed back to the same area and were lucky enough to see three of the otters from very close range.
