p.1 #1 · A very rare sight on the Texas Coast

Unfortunately, this guy was about 200yds away, so this is not a great shot and is a very heavy crop. This is the first Flamingo I have seen at the Texas Coast. He was across the Lagoon at the 'Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas. The second shot is equally as poor, but I thought the variety present in this scene deserved sharing.

I guess he thought he could sneak in under the radar if he stood close enough to the spoonbill and nobody would notice, heh.

Hope you get another shot at him that meets your wishes.

Thanks, Eric.
Funny thing is that he was so far away that someone else with binoculars pointed him out to me.

Thank you, Louie.
I was surprised that I even got that decent of a shot, as I shot that a full zoom @ 400mm and used the 2X DTC (so a 1600mm FOV equivalent), and cropped the heck out of the resulting file.
As I said, I was just surprised to see one -- the first one in all my many years at the Texas coast.

Thanks, Birdie!
It was fun, but they were so far away and no way for me to get any closer.

Great fun to see a wanderer like this. Birds way outside there normal locations seems to be more common recently. We had a flamingo in NYC a couple of years ago.
