Visually, it matches the Zf well. Unfortunately, it is quite heavy compared to the CV Nokton.

Oh, I was too hasty with my question. I think the 1.2 Noxlux for Nikon Z has exactly the same optical components as the 1.1 Noxlux for Leica M. That pretty much answers my question. I apologize.

I have not. The MTF is kind of horrible, although for regular (vs. fine) detail is actually better than the Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AF-S which I used with reasonable results. The MTF of the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 Z is radically better, but of course it is a bit more expensive a stop slower.

If one pops up used on eBay, I'll try it. Or maybe I'll try a Nikkor 50 mm f/1.2 Ai which will work with the FTZ and is half or less the price of the Mr. Ding.

Last I heard, ArtraLab and Mr. Ding are basically the same optical formulas but rebadged. The ArtraLab I've tried are pretty atrocious for the weight and price.

Gotta say I hate how they designed this one. It kinda mirrors old Nikkors but not really - e.g aperture ring in the wrong position and with this weird texture. Imo it looks like a cheap knockoff (which it kind of is, but we’ve seen some really nicely made knockoffs in recent years..)

Kudos for the electronic contacts though

I actually wouldn't mind MTF curves much. To be honest, I personally prefer a lower resolution. But that doesn't matter. If it's the familiar design, I know what to expect.

It seems to me that the 1.1 Noxlux isn't bad at all. However, I found the 1.2 50 Nokton more desirable.

I would have liked to try it with the Techart AF adapter, but then the Mr. Ding suddenly became unavailable. But that all relates to Sony and therefore probably doesn't belong in the Nikon forum.

Well, at least it HAS an aperture ring, unlike the SE Nikkors.

Yeah, what is up with those weird f-numbers going both ways? I had plenty of old 50mm Nikkors starting with the 50/2 prong in the 70s, but none looked that whacked out.

Yes, that's silly, of course, but let's be honest, doesn't this attribute apply to all retro stuff in general?

I think there are plenty examples of successful retro designs out there:

Voigtländer 55mm f1.2 and their other F-mount lenses look like they could have been manufactured by Nikon themselves.
Their Z mount lenses are an evolution of this design - also changing the position of the aperture ring and using a DOF scale similar to this Mr. Ding, but the overall design looks much more consistent.

The Artralab "Nonikkor" lenses also got it right (at least in terms of looks, not sure how they feel in hand).

I would also say that the Mr. Ding 50mm f1.1 in M-mount is a nice design, that takes some cues from Leica lenses. Similar for the TTartisan 50mm f1.4

Speaking of TTartisan, their M42 lenses are also very faithful to the design of the original Zeiss lenses they copy, but using some more modern elements when it comes to font, being available in black, etc.

And then there are all the Light Lens Lab lenses..

Have a review sample of the Z-mount 50mm 1.2, review will be published soon, but cannot give you an exact date yet.
