Is an M11 with fully updated firmware as stable as the newer P models?
I would love to get an M11P Safari but the price is just wild IMHO. Looks like the original non P models are getting affordable within the relative world of Leica cameras. The Safari would look amazing with my silver Zeiss lenses.
Mostly I want to use my Zeiss Biogon lenses on a body that will perform well with them. I have the 35/2 and 25/2,8. I think my 'normals' would do well on anything. I also want good mobile syncing for easy photo sharing on iPhone or iPad, and I want a 'usable' EVF experience when using Nikon manual lenses. (I have the 55/1.2 that I could see using).
The options in front of me would be the M10-R which seems to go for the same price as the 11s, or an M11P.
Not considering the SL series because I want a rangefinder, that being said I did consider a Kolari UT mod'd ZF but from some online examples it seems like the Biogon lenses still like the M bodies a bit better. As you may observe, I'm not hyper focused on megapixels, but I do appreciate greater dynamic range.

AFAIK, M11 problems are both software & hardware. Mine I got 2 or 3 days after it was announced hardly ever had problems but the few I had they were fixed by firwmare upgrades.
But a friend of mine bought his a little more than one year ago and whatever the configuration and firmware updates, it froze several times a day from day one. He had it exchanged and the new one is flawless.
So I would go for a M10-R or a M11-P. Even the M10 is an excellent camera.
Can’t comment on m11 as i only have the p, but i would imagine firmware being equal, stability should be the same. Haven’t had a single issue with mine
I have a 2022 M11 Silver. There were some freezes on earlier firmware versions, but now everything is stable. I had the color correction done a month ago, and now there is no more magenta.
My 2022 Silver M11 has been solid since new. Faboulous camera. I don't feel the need for the credential feature or extra internal memory in my photography so personaly would save the money and buy a used M11.
I have the M11 and M11M, (which is made on the M11P platform).
After the latest firmware upgrades, I can't really tell a difference between both.
My M11 is as stable as my M11M, or at least it seems like, because the M11M is new and I've only been using it for two weeks.
It's been a long time since my M11 blocked, actually, I can say it hasn't blocked in a long time, i dont even remember. The latest firmwares have made it stable.
The only issue I have is that in continuous shooting the trigger sometimes continues shooting even if I lift my finger, but this is also an issue with the M11M and other M11 versions I tried.
